Howdy folks! 😊
I always like to keep an eye out for unusual foods, or perhaps making the usual foods into unusual dishes. And that’s exactly how this chicken heart dish came about. 😊
For the most part, I’ve seen chicken hearts eaten fried and/or with gravy in these parts, so grilled on skewers was definitely different. 😊
Making a Ginger-soy marinade also makes these extra delicious and flavorful and I can guarantee they’ll be a big hit at your next Barbecue! 👌🏾
If you’re ready to give this a go…here’s the recipe 😊👇🏾

1 kg Chicken Hearts
2 Teaspoons Salt
1 Teaspoon Black pepper
2 cloves of Garlic
1 Teaspoon fresh Ginger
1 1/2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
1 1/2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
Directions
- Start by washing the chicken hearts and trimming off any extra fat and veins. 😊
- Gather the rest of the ingredients that will be used to marinade the hearts in : Garlic, Ginger, Salt, Pepper, Soy Sauce and Worcestershire sauce. 😊
- P.S. – I recommend you cut the hearts slightly open with a knife on a cutting board at this point, before adding the other ingredients in to marinate. But even if you don’t, you can do that before assembling the skewers.
Grate the garlic and ginger for a more even spread, and add the rest of the ingredients in to create a marinade. Cover and set this for at least 2 hours. 😊 - While the hearts marinate, soak your skewer sticks in cold water. That way they don’t burn when the skewers are cooking on the Grill/BBQ Stand. 😊
- Cut the hearts slightly open (if not done in step 3) and thread the skewers with about 5 or 6 hearts each, depending on how long your skewer sticks are. 😊
- Bring the skewers to the charcoal grill and grill for about 7 minutes on each side. 😊
- Remove from the heat once ready, and serve with your favorite starch and salads. Enjoy! 😋💕
- Had mine with a Tomato Cucumber Salad and savory rice. 🤩
